It has often been said that teamwork is the way to get things done and that has undoubtedly been proven by some amazing people in the Midlands over the last month or so.Following on from a massive donation of dog/cat food and items for the recent van trip, the groups in this area have decided to help GAR even further with more appeals for donations of used items that can be put to good use in Greece .Debbie who runs an incredible auction page and where animal loving people bid for items that she auctions have been donating a collar every time they bid on an item they want….and at the last count had 234 some second hand and from the photos you’ll see a lot of new ones as well. Also she has had her members sharing the appeal even further a field on their groups. Each evening more items get posted and each time there’s another kind volunteer posting a comment to offer to knit blankets, make mini beds from duvets, come to Greece to help out and we’ve even had a homing enquiry from a member of this group…..WOW how one pebble in the pond can send out so many ripples!! During September we are arranging to take transport to the Midlands and meet all these great people and we will get chance to share the stories and work of GAR with them….hoping that our new friends in the north will see just how helpful all there efforts have been. As always we will be sure to get follow up photos so they can see their items in use once they reach the shelters.
Here’s a few quotes and photos from her auction page:

We have less than 3 weeks left to gather as much as we can for the Greek animal rescue, plz have a rummage see what you have to donate we need beds, out of date pet meds (can be safely used up to a year out of date), bandages, dressings, collars, bowls, cages, dustpans and brushes, blankets, towels, baby baths, buckets. These rescues have nothing and need our help, so a huge thank you to Debbie and her members and all the other groups that have shared the appeal and we look forward to meeting you later this month….although we are thinking were going to need to come in a juggernaut not a van the success you’ve had so far!!!
Could you start up a rescue auction in your area? It really is people just sorting out their unwanted items, and people bidding for them with items needed for rescues, hand sanitizer, old towels, bowls, beds, food, grooming and cleaning items etc., The Feed 4 Paws group on Facebook, have started something so amazing and innovative, we would love to see this iniative spreading nationwide!
